Hattens Nature Reserve

Discover heights, ravines, hiking trails and even a waterfall—this is a must-see in our opinion! A scenic 5-kilometer trail makes “Hatten” an ideal destination for nature lovers!

Located about 4 km northwest of Hok, Hattens Nature Reserve spans 59 hectares of rugged forest, wetlands and streams. The area is renowned for its rich biodiversity, featuring ancient trees and deadwood that provide habitats for mosses, lichens, and insects.

Skomakarens Kammare

For the adventurous soul! This spot offers uneven terrain as well as significant elevation changes.

Skomakarens Kammare, near Hok, is a unique rock formation shaped by nature over centuries. The area features dramatic boulders and narrow passages, inviting visitors to explore and marvel at the landscape’s stunning formations.

Dumme Mosse

We like to visit Dumme Mosse for easy, short walks in beautiful surroundings!

Dumme Mosse is a vast and picturesque mire west of Jönköping, celebrated for its unique ecosystem, abundant birdlife, and outdoor activities. Covering approximately 3,000 hectares, it’s one of southern Sweden’s largest wetlands. Visitors can enjoy expansive bogs, small lakes, and forests that offer tranquility and natural beauty. Boardwalk trails, rest areas, and year-round opportunities for exploration make it a favorite spot for nature enthusiasts.

Taberg Nature Reserve, Tabergstoppen, and Taberg Mine

We go to Tabergstoppen to enjoy some ice cream and to take in the breathtaking views!

Taberg Nature Reserve, located south of Jönköping, is one of Småland’s most unique natural sites, centered around the majestic Taberg mountain. Rising 343 meters above sea level, it offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

Taberg features hiking trails of varying difficulty, from simple paths to challenging climbs. At the summit, there’s a restaurant and a viewpoint where visitors can enjoy panoramic vistas. During the summer, guided tours of the mines are popular, providing insights into the area’s history and geology.

Skurugata and Skuruhatt

We last visited Skurugata and Skuruhatt in spring 2024!

Skurugata is an impressive natural formation near Eksjö, regarded as one of Småland’s most fascinating geological landmarks. This 800-meter-long and up to 50-meter-deep crevice was formed by rock fractures millions of years ago. The area is part of the Skurugata-Skuruhatt Nature Reserve.

Skuruhatt, at 337 meters above sea level, offers breathtaking views of Småland’s landscapes, making it a favorite spot for hiking and sightseeing.

Eksjö

A charming, wooden town! Don’t miss a coffee break at our favorite spot, Lennarts Nya Konditori.

Known as the “Wooden town, Eksjö is famous for its well-preserved wooden houses that exude character and charm. With roots in the medieval era, Eksjö boasts a historic center classified as a cultural heritage site. Stroll through narrow alleys, cobblestone streets, and timber houses dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries. Highlights include the Eksjö Museum, which showcases the town’s history and its significant role in Swedish wooden architecture.

Vaggeryds Gårdscafé

Our go-to spot for coffee—try the delicious Silviakaka!

Vaggeryds Gårdscafé is a cozy and beloved café just outside Vaggeryd. Nestled in a rural setting, it offers a genuine experience with homemade treats and locally sourced ingredients. Its welcoming and relaxed ambiance makes it perfect for coffee breaks or light lunches. In the summer, guests can enjoy outdoor seating in a charming setting.

Leva Café & Hemma

We come here for waffles with goat cheese and pear—delicious!

Leva Café & Hemma combines a café and boutique, where visitors can enjoy great food and discover beautiful, unique home decor items. The shop features a curated selection of products that reflect the café’s style, making it an excellent place to find special gifts or souvenirs.

Byarums Hembygdsgård (Summer-Only)

Byarums Hembygdsgård features several historical buildings relocated here to preserve and showcase traditional Swedish architecture.

Explore an old farmhouse, barn, smithy, and schoolhouse, all furnished with authentic items from the 19th and early 20th centuries. This heritage site offers a glimpse into rural life in the past. Visitors can also enjoy coffee and purchase handmade crafts from local artisans.
