  1. Kävsjön round - a classic on Store Mosse

Length: 15.6 km
Time: approx. 3 h 47 min
Difficulty level: Medium

Kävsjön runt is a powerful hike in the heart of Store Mosse National Park. Here you will encounter a vibrant landscape that alternates between dense spruce forests, light elevated areas with oak and pine and the unique wetlands of the high moss. The trail passes bird towers that provide extensive views of Lake Kävsjön and its surrounding marshland, and during the spring and summer months it is teeming with bird life.

A tip is to start at Naturum and walk the trail clockwise for the best experience. Don't miss Södra Svänö, where there is a beautiful fireplace for a break with thermal coffee and coffee. You will need good shoes - the paths and areas with lots of roots can be slippery and demanding. The trail is open all year round, but between March 1 and August 15 there is a ban on entering bird protection areas.

  1. Lilla Lövö round - wilderness feeling at a safe distance

Length: 6.3 km
Time: approx. 1 h 27 min
Difficulty level: Easy

This hike offers contrasts: from meadows over marshland and traces of peat mining, to the dense forest of Lilla Lövö. If you walk the trail counter-clockwise, you start with open views of the moss landscape before reaching the island. There the landscape changes to coniferous forest on gravel ridges (rocknar), a rare and unusual habitat type.

Far from roads and noise, you can walk here in total silence. Expect to see and hear cranes, grouse and perhaps deer. A paper guide is available at the start, and there are seats for resting. Bear in mind that the paths can be slippery in the rain.

  1. Västanåleden - drama and views by Lake Vättern

Length: 7.1 km
Time: approx. 1 h 52 min
Difficulty level: Medium

This trail goes through Västanå nature reserve outside Gränna. You walk from dry pine moors down into lush deciduous forests with beech, lime and elm. The Röttleån river meanders deep down in the gorge, and the roar of the water follows you on parts of the trip.

The views of Lake Vättern and Visingsö are magnificent and provide good opportunities for picnics. Take the opportunity to visit historical sites such as Röttle village and Västanå castle, which are adjacent to the trail. The hike is hilly but well marked, and is suitable for those who want to combine exercise, views and cultural history.

  1. Hassafallsleden - waterfall and history in one

Length: 4.3 km (or 4.1 km via Varkullen)
Duration: approx. 1 h 15 min
Difficulty level: Easy to medium

Start in Hovslätt and let the Tabergsån river lead you through lush alder forest. After a while you will meet Sandserydsån and the impressive waterfalls at Hassafall. Two barbecue areas invite you to take a break, and the journey then continues to Varkullen, a viewing mountain where the whole of Södra Vätterbygden spreads out.

This trail offers many rewards despite its short length. Places of cultural and historical interest such as Åsafors and the remains of older industries and mills provide a perspective on the history of the landscape's use.

  1. Dummemosseleden - short and long wilderness enjoyment

Length: 4.2 km (short) / 12.1 km (long)
Time: 1 h 5 min / 3 h 3 min
Difficulty level: Easy to medium

A moorland landscape of international interest awaits you at Dumme mosse. The shorter trail is suitable for a morning with a coffee stop at the barbecue area. The long trail leads you on narrow paths, over bogs and through coniferous forests. Here you feel small and free at the same time.

Rare birds, irresistible silence and a landscape that looks the same today as it did 5000 years ago - this is a walk for the soul.

  1. Skurugata - Småland's most peculiar natural phenomenon

Length: 2.1 km
Duration: About 35 min
Difficulty: Easy, but uneven terrain

A fault crack 800 meters long and 20 meters deep. Skurugata is a place that must be experienced. The peculiar rock type, porphyry, and the cool climate down in the crack mean that mountain plants normally only found in northern Sweden thrive here. From the Skuruhatt viewpoint you can see large parts of Småland.

There are picnic tables and toilets at the parking lot. Skurugata is perfect for a short, dramatic walk.

  1. Hatten Nature Reserve - quiet forest and old mill

Length: 3 km (Grytegölsleden) / 3.3 km (Kvarnfallsleden)
Difficulty level: Medium

Hatten is a place where you can hike in large-scale, authentic Swedish nature. Old forest, sparkling streams and cliffs characterize the landscape. Shelters and fireplaces make it easy to spend a whole day in peace and quiet.

The trails are short but offer great variety. Bring binoculars to look for birds of prey, or just enjoy the wind in the pines.

  1. Around East Rockne - a breathing space in everyday life

Length: 4.5 km
Time: approx. 1 h 9 min
Difficulty level: Easy

A shorter trail in Store Mosse that goes over high bog, through forest and past Svartgölen - a quiet, mirror-like forest lake. The platform there is perfect for a break in the sun.

The trail is suitable for wheelchairs and strollers, but never feels "tamed" - nature feels wild, free and welcoming.
