Experience Småland from the water
Renting a canoe at Smålandstorpet is one of the most relaxing ways to experience nature in Småland. It’s not about speed or performance—it’s about slowing down.
This is an experience that’s perfect even for those new to paddling. You don’t need any prior experience, no advanced planning, and no special equipment. All it takes is a little time, curiosity, and a desire to get close to nature.
For many people, kayaking in Småland is one of the most memorable nature experiences of their trip—precisely because it is so simple, peaceful, and authentic.
An easy start – near Smålandstorpet
Your paddling trip begins on the Härån River, just about a 15-minute drive from Smålandstorpet. This makes it easy to get started—without having to plan an entire day down to the last detail. The Härån is a calm and easily accessible river, perfect for paddling at a leisurely pace. The water flows slowly through the landscape, and you simply go with the flow, at your own pace.
The surroundings are green and vibrant. Trees stand close to the water, birds can be heard in the background, and occasionally a fish breaks the surface. It is a beautiful and peaceful setting where it’s easy to leave the stresses of everyday life behind.
Paddle through the diverse landscape of Småland
The first part of the tour takes you along the winding river. Gradually, the landscape opens up and you come out onto Lake Hubbestad.
If you continue on, you’ll reach Lake Rolfstorpa, where a beautiful sandy beach awaits. It’s the perfect place to stop for a break.
Here you can easily pull your canoe ashore, sit down, and take a break—and enjoy the surroundings. For many, this is the highlight of the day.
A paddling trip suitable for everyone
The entire route takes about three hours round trip, at a leisurely pace. This makes it the perfect half-day outing—long enough to feel like a real adventure, but without being too strenuous.
The water is calm, the route is easy to follow, and you’ll receive a laminated map to help you navigate. You set your own pace. There’s also a short, easy section where you’ll need to carry the canoe. It’s not difficult, but it’s good to know about it in advance.
Bring a snack – an important part of the paddle
For many people, it’s the break that’s the highlight of the day.
Sitting by the water—perhaps on the sandy beach at Lake Rolfstorpasjön—with a cup of coffee and a light snack is a big part of the experience when you go paddling in Småland. You can easily prepare a snack in the kitchen at Smålandstorpet before you set off. If you want to make it even easier, you can also pick something up along the way.
It doesn't have to be anything fancy. A thermos of coffee, a few sandwiches, and maybe something sweet will do the trick.
